Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Bradley DeGroot

Dr. DeGroot completed his residency program in Periodontology and Dental Implantology at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. While there, he earned his specialty certification and his Master of Science in Dentistry. His clinical research focused on improving treatment protocols for immediate implants placed in the esthetic (“smile”) zone. He’s an active member of leading dental organizations and is part of the attending medical staff in the Department of Surgery, Division of Dentistry, at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

Dr. George Mandelaris

Dr. Mandelaris is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. His work on a variety of dental and periodontal subjects has been extensively published in peer-reviewed journals as well as in textbooks worldwide. He is a nationally recognized expert in periodontology and has garnered numerous awards for his pioneering research. Dr. Mandelaris is a Past President of the Illinois Society of Periodontists and is one of the American Academy of Periodontology’s recommended speakers on topics related to periodontics-orthodontics and imaging/implant surgery.

Dr. Antonella Botto

Dr. Antonella Botto grew up in Houston, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degrees from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. Dr. Botto then completed her dental education at the University of Texas Health and Science Center in San Antonio. During dental school, Dr. Botto was active in the American Student Dental Association and served as the San Antonio Chapter President. Dr. Botto graduated from dental school with a Distinction in Research and a Distinction in Education.

Surgical Orthodontics

Surgically Facilitated Orthodontic Therapy, or SFOT, uses a modern and safe way to straighten teeth and restore complete oral health. It begins with imaging diagnostics and tooth movement simulation software to understand where teeth need to be positioned for the patients face/smile, bite, and airway. This approach provides novel risk assessment of the available bone around the teeth and highly personalizes an individuals orthodontic plan. When needed, fortifying the jawbone (the foundation of the smile) by SFOT can help transform a vulnerable periodontium away from future gum recession problems and may also help avoid tooth extraction as apart of the orthodontic plan. It can even restore receding gums and gain oral cavity volume for the tongue as apart of the interdisciplinary process.
